For an artist whose fingerprints are all over modern music, it somehow felt fitting that Bleacher's first performance in Raleigh felt deeply personal.

On October 7, Bleachers brought their latest tour to Red Hat Amphitheater with support from This Is Lorelei, finally giving Raleigh fans an opportunity to experience one of the most influential musical projects of the last decade. For a band that has spent years building a devoted following through festival appearances, headline tours, and word-of-mouth recommendations, it was surprising to learn this was their first time playing the city. The wait was worth it.

From the moment Jack Antonoff stepped on stage, it was clear this wouldn't be a boring show. Every inch of the stage became part of the performance. He started on the highest risers surrounded by the talented musicians with which Bleachers comes to life. Antonoff moved constantly between risers, platforms, and instrument stations, creating a sense of motion that made even the largest moments feel intimate.

Some performers command attention through spectacle. Antonoff does it through connection. Whether sprinting across the stage, climbing onto elevated platforms, conducting the crowd like an orchestra, or leaning into quieter moments with the audience, he understands that a concert isn't simply about performing songs—it's about creating a shared experience. That philosophy is at the core of Bleachers.

For many music fans, Jack Antonoff is known as the producer behind some of the most recognizable albums of the past decade. His collaborations with Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent, Sabrina Carpenter, Florence Welch, and countless others have helped define the sound of contemporary pop music. But Bleachers has always been something different. It's where Antonoff's influences become most visible.

Throughout the evening, you could hear echoes of the artists and genres that shaped him: Bruce Springsteen's heartland storytelling, the widescreen emotion of 1980s pop, New Jersey rock-and-roll grit, indie rock vulnerability, and the euphoric saxophone-driven crescendos that have become a signature part of the Bleachers sound.

The result is music that somehow feels nostalgic and completely modern at the same time.

Songs like "Rollercoaster," "I Wanna Get Better," and "Don't Take the Money" carried the same emotional urgency they did when they were first released, but hearing them performed live revealed something deeper. Beneath the infectious hooks and massive choruses are songs about grief, anxiety, hope, self-discovery, and finding joy despite uncertainty.

Watching the crowd at Red Hat Amphitheater, it was impossible not to notice how many fans connected to the music on a personal level. Some screamed every lyric. Others simply stood and absorbed the moment. Many did both. There was a collective understanding that

the same emotional honesty that makes Antonoff such a sought-after collaborator is what makes Bleachers resonate so deeply.

When he works with other artists, Antonoff has a remarkable ability to amplify their voice rather than overshadow it. He helps artists uncover the most authentic version of their story. With Bleachers, that process turns inward. The result is a project that feels unfiltered, vulnerable, and unmistakably his own.

In a music landscape increasingly driven by algorithms, trends, and viral moments, Bleachers continues to offer something refreshingly human: songs that embrace complexity, celebrate resilience, and remind us that vulnerability can be a strength. After their first Raleigh performance, one thing seemed certain. The city won't want to wait nearly this long for the next one.
